Exclusive Lambic Tasting: Cantillon & 3 Fonteinen - Tuesday February 17th - Ghost Whale Putney

Welcome to the first Ghost Whale exclusive beer tasting event of 2026!

Off the back of a whirlwind weekender in Brussels, I (Ray) have played the role of beer sherpa yet again, loading up on bottles from both of the breweries I attended tours of while abroad: Cantillon & 3 Fonteinen. 

These two world class breweries are the posterboys of the Lambic world, and the 6 rare beers I've brought to share have hardly, if at all, been seen in the UK before. That said, there is a limited amount of beer and therefore limited tickets for this exclusive event. 

Join us on Tuesday the 17th of February in our Putney shop as we work our way through some incredibly special Lambics & Gueuzes, and snack on some Cantillon Lambic-infused cheese as well. 

Now the important part... the beer list!

THE BEERS

Cantillon - 'Gueuze 125' (UnTappd: 4.26): Only available direct from their taproom, this special edition Gueueze was brewed in celebration of Cantillon's 125th anniversary. It contains a blend of four year old Lambics, and was bottled in 2021. 

Cantillon - 'Vigneronne 2025' (UnTappd: 4.22): Two year old Lambic was fruited with 200 grams per liter of macerated Viognier grapes to make this beautiful beer.

3 Fonteinen - 'Cask Finish Series: Akevitt' (UnTappd: 4.29): A blend of Lambics that were aged in three different Aquavit barrels. These barrels previously held PX Sherry for over 50 years, and Aquavit for over 10 years. The average age of the Lambic blend at bottling (in October 2024) is over 33 months. 

3 Fonteinen - 'Cask Finish Series: Cognac' (UnTappd: 4.38): A blend of three Lambics that were aged in Cognac barrels for more than twenty 20 months. The average age of the Lambic blend at bottling (in June 2024) is 46 months. 

3 Fonteinen - 'Cask Finish Series: Armagnac' (UnTappd: 4.42): Two and a half year old Lambic was transferred into Armagnac barrels for 19 months, before being blended with young Lambic. The average age of the Lambic blend at bottling (in June 2024) is 36 months. 

3 Fonteinen - 'Cuvée Armand & Gaston Vintage 2020 Blend #15' (UnTappd: 4.38): Bottled in January of 2020, this specific Oude Gueuze Cuvée is a blend of seven (!) different barrels of one, two, & three year old Lambics. The average age of liquid in this bottle was approximately 90 months at the time of its release in October 2025.
